Women's History Month 2015
Did you know that March signifies Women's History Month? During this honorary month, the Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution, and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum join forces to pay tribute to the many generations of women who have contributed to the overall greater good of the world.
Women's History Month is too often neglected, when in reality, our youth and elders need to be informed of the accomplishments and sacrifices women in our history have undergone to make the world a better place.
Creative Ways to Celebrate Women's History Month 2015:
- If you have children, take a moment to ask their teacher about how they plan on educating the class about Women's History Month. If nothing is planned, you can offer to volunteer a day to educate the class by making an activity of it!
- Read a book about a female hero of our history with the entire family. You can read about Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Eleanor Roosevelt, Amelia Earhart, Rosa Parks, or any other historic female figure that you can think of!
- If you and your family are more movie-enthused, take a look on Netflix for historic movies featuring the heroic acts of females.
- Visit a museum that features the beautiful pieces of women artists. This is a great way to appreciate the accomplishments of women around the world.
