California businesses ready themselves for Small Business Saturday.
Nestled perfectly between Black Friday and Cyber Monday exists Small Business Saturday. This is a €˜shop small, shop local' movement that has quickly taken hold nationwide as another holiday shopping tradition.
American Express started this day back in 2010 to encourage people to visit their local shops instead of big chain stores. Ever since, this day has been dedicated to small, local businesses. In 2016, an estimated 112 million shoppers participated in the seventh annual Small Business Saturday by shopping at local shops. The goal of this day is to remind customers that they play a key role in helping small businesses thrive, and encourage them to get out and shop and dine at local businesses.
If you have a local brick-and-mortar store or restaurant, then this day is for you! Refocus your marketing effects on your local community. Provide stellar customer service on the day, host giveaways, and get the community involved so that you are remembered and customers will come back. Once they experience your unique product and friendly customer service, they may become a frequent customer for the holiday season!
