COVID-19 had everyone working from home and strict lockdown enforcement at one point. While things are nowhere near normal, we must adapt to this new world by staying social - even when we cannot be social through meeting large groups, hugging loved ones, and shaking hands. Although it may not have been easy, now is the time to find out how we can benefit our lives and mental health by keeping in contact with others as this may be necessary for the foreseeable future.
Stay Social While Social Distancing
Pick up the phone. It's easy to call your friends and family with a phone, wherever you are. Whether you're out on a walk or stuck inside, pick up the phone and chat with your loved ones for comfort.
Use video call. Although you may not be able to be with your loved ones in person during this time, you can feel as if you are right next to them through video calls. Arrange to have coffee together over a video call, such as FaceTime or Zoom so that you feel more connected even when you're apart.
Attend a class or event virtually. Schools, gyms, yoga studios, and local attractions are getting creative, offering opportunities to enjoy what they offer digitally. Attend a few of these events and learn something new without even needing to leave your home.
Have a neighborhood hangout. Social distancing doesn't mean isolation. Driveways, yards, and sidewalks make it easier to set boundaries while allowing neighbors to get outside and connect. Find out what your local area is doing to stay entertained.
