The leader of the riding group should be the most experienced. They will be the first person to encounter other traffic and will know how to respond to situations on the road. The tail rider, the last in the group, also needs to be experienced as they could be separated by traffic conditions, and they can help ensure that the more inexperienced riders do not fall behind.
The leader should be at the front on the left side of the lane. The rider behind him or her should be on the ride side of the lane. Repeat this pattern to create a staggered effect, leaving plenty of room in between each rider.
Someone in the group should carry a first-aid kit and a tool kit. Every rider should have the appropriate protective gear on and a helmet. All riders should have made sure their bikes are ready for a ride beforehand, too.
